For hundreds of years, the only real way to present information to a class was via chalkboard, and eventually the standard whiteboard with different color markers. This creates the same selections as-if you were using the mouse, allowing you to gain access to menu options in a given program, zoom into a desired object or manipulate text in a word document. Draw on the interactive whiteboard with one of the provided markers. These markers look similar to dry-erase products used on dry-erase boards, but none of the pens actually produce ink. The color of the marker is digitally created on the screen. This allows you to highlight different areas of the screen with different colors. Red, blue and yellow are primary colors and the main colors that come with an interactive whiteboard, although your particular board may come with additional options. Just make sure not to use an actual dry-erase marker on the board. This is gong to damage the screen as the marker is unable to be erased from the screen. The screen is still going to function correctly, but you are always going to see the line created by the marker on the screen, which is eventually going to become distracting. It is best just to leave any markers that may be confused with the touchscreen’s digital markers out of the room. This way you avoid any possible confusion over what devices function correctly with the digital interactive whiteboard. Power the digital board down once you have finished with it.
